The CPU everyone needs but doesn't know

As we step into 2018, it’s supposedly a horrible time to build a PC, as you have to deal with the whole GPU mining fiasco and also deal with the current supply shortage of DDR4 ram and so building PCs are really expensive at this time. However, there’s still a method in having a PC, which can be built for cheaper for the performance you can get. Of course I’m talking about none other than AMD’s current APU, the Ryzen 3 2200g.

The APU caught me off guard at first, as I thought it was just a cheaper version of the Ryzen 3 1300x but with less cache, but as I looked into it more and more, I began to realize that it’s actually a CPU with an integrated GPU that can somewhat equivalate to a standalone GPU like a GT 1030. This is truly an amazing feature that I haven’t noticed until a month of research.

To boot, the CPU itself is really a powerhouse, coming it with 4 cores and 4 threads clocked at 3.5 for the base, and 3.7 as its boost clock. But the fact that it’s still cheaper than its predecessor, the ryzen 3 1300X, it still can somehow rock a GPU that can handle a lot of triple A titles such as GTA V, Overwatch, and even the demanding Battlefield 1 quite well over 60 frames per second.

Seeing as how Intel with their new Coffee Lake architecture CPUs, they all come in as of writing this with really expensive prices on the motherboards, which makes getting the CPU usable a really expensive trip. With the current Ryzen 3 2200g, people should take note that it’s a practical idea to save some bucks and go for AMD instead of Intel.

The Ryzen 3 2200g as a side note can also be good as a CPU itself, the iGPU isn’t the only thing that matters in it. Since you can still utilize a GPU with the CPU (just as how I planned my friend’s PC build) you can still get even better frames than you could expect from such a cheap CPU. Even if you’re wasting the GPU, maybe in a scenario in the future will come where your GPU breaks down, but you don’t need to worry since your iGPU is really so powerful that it doesn’t even matter anymore.

So to conclude, the Ryzen 3 2200g is truly a powerhouse, it’s actually in fact cheaper to go for a full build with this APU, rather than something like a Pentium G4560 with a GT1030, as it will cost more and might not be good for the long run. AMD has truly made something that’s good for futureproofing but it’s something that really doesn’t get the attention it truly deserves in the PC building community, people need to start noticing this CPU.
